Irrigation & Mosquitos

Lawns are looking great! Mother nature has blessed us with an abundance of rain and the grass and trees are showing it. As the weather slowly begins to warm up, we wanted to take a moment and make sure that everyone understands the best way to properly irrigate your lawns this spring and going into the summer.

Now that there is very little chance of freezing temperatures, those who have automatic sprinklers, you will definitely want to start your watering cycle early enough in the morning so that your sprinklers are done watering by around 5:00 A.M. I personally have mine set to come on at 1:00 A.M. We water early in the morning to shorten the amount of time the grass blades remain wet. Normally, the grass is going to be wet from the dew accumulating during the early morning hours, so that is why we want to water early in the morning because the grass is already wet. NEVER WATER RIGHT AS THE SUN IS COMING UP OR AS THE SUN IS GOING DOWN! If the lawn does not need watered however, don't water! Proper watering is the most important aspect of your lawns health. With the warmer temperatures coming up, fungus is sure to be coming as well, and proper irrigation is key to fungus prevention. We can't control mother nature of course, but we can control our sprinklers! And for those of you signed up for preventive fungicide applications, we will be starting those next week!

Secondly, we are getting a lot of calls about mosquito control. With the amount of precipitation this spring, it was inevitable that the mosquito pressure was going to be heightened.
